If you are looking for a transceiever and have just started dipping your toe into the waters of Amateur Radio, the thought of programming it can be quite daunting.
Programming can be done from the front of the radio, but the quickest and best way of doing it is by using software on a computer. This allows you to upload the settings into the radio without all of the tedious messing about.
Buying from me, will save you the hassle of doing it.
You may see these radios on eBay or Amazon for less than my prices, but they will not be set up to use out of the box. Buying from me means you can unbox it, switch it on and get going.
The Baofeng is the first choice for new Amateur Radio Operators. It is popular due to it’s very reasonable price compared to it’s Japanese counterparts.
If you drop and break one of these, it will cost an awful lot less to replace than the pricier Yaesu, Icom and Kenwood radios.
There are a few options to choose from. If you would like me to do the magic and program your radio then choose from the first or second option.
Option 1 is the most popular. It contains the pre-programmed channels plus local repeaters for your home area. If you want repeaters for somewhere else, let me know.
Option 2 is pre-programmed with my standard codeplug but will not contain your local repeaters. Handy if you don’t have any repeaters near to your home or you travel around the UK a lot.
The third option is to buy a radio that is untouched by me. Please note that if you do this it is absolutely imperative that you program it yourself. The channels that come on the radio from the factory are NOT to be used in the UK. They can end up with you being prosecuted, losing your licence, or worse put someone’s life in danger.
- Option 1: Pre-Programmed Radio + Local Repeaters £40 (Most Popular)
- Option 2: Basic Pre-Programmed Radio £38
- Option 3: Radio Only
